The family "challenge"

Thanks for your prayers and your comments everyone after my last post! I am feeling much better, although you may notice that the post time is once again in the middle of the night. ;) I got a chance to catch up on some much needed sleep, and while I am still tired, the last few days have definitely been better.

When I started nursing school in the fall of my junior year, I started gaining unwanted weight, attributed to the high stress levels of the program. I wasn't too worried about it, and figured that once I had time to exercise it would be fine. Well, it is now two years later, and I have tried multiple times to lose weight, and it has just never happened for me. I usually end up extremely discouraged, and with no results.

Because of this, I rarely last more than about four days at any attempt to exercise and "watch what I eat". The problem may be that I "watch" what I'm eating, all the way to my mouth! However, I have started to lose some weight over the summer since the stress of school is over, without really even trying!

A few days ago, I got an email from my sister, challenging members of our family to do Weight Watchers together. So, I agreed! It is a time when I am feeling very ready to do something like this, and the family motivation to do it together will be very helpful for me!

I would love your prayers again - mostly for self-control in sticking with it, but also I really would love to see something work!

With that - has anybody else tried it? Any stories, suggestions, or recipes with points?

I'm starting on Monday, and will let you know how it goes!

I'm with you, Babe! Daddy and I are joining in, so I guess that means no more fried green beans @ Fridays, or
strawberry lemonade! Why bother to eat out?! (I wonder how many points a few of the green beans are??? :^) )

I don't know! Maybe we could use our bonus points ;)

l, girls, we can do this!! I'll have you know I stayed within my points this week. And yesterday had a piece of Sbarro's cheese pizza (though desperately missed my beloved pepperoni!) and a 20 oz Pepsi to accompany it! And I still had a point left to have some chocolate chips for dessert! So, it can be done...and you can still have whatever green beans your talking about.
I think it will be fun to do this together!

That first word was supposed to be "well." I guess I typed before the computer was ready for me...

I did pretty well on Weight Watchers. It really is one of the best out there because it's not trendy. Look how long it's been around. My mom was on it in the 1970s.

On my blog I posted some recipes recently (4 Faves, Comfort Food...). If you use sugar-free angel food cake and lowfat everything, the Trifle is wonderful.

Also, I used to make a WW pizza that was, if I remember, ridiculously low in points. Don't quote me, but I think 9 points for the entire veggie pizza. You buy a thin crust, add a thin layer of pizza sauce (we like Don Pepino) some lowfat mozzarella, and all the veggies you want. Makes me want to try it again!! I'll try to post more soon. Oh, I lost five pounds the first week and at least 2 a week thereafter if I was diligent. I don't think I gained because I was paying for the program--a big difference.
